Thanks for the effort in creating this list. By way of introduction, I have
five motorcycles, two of which are Guzzis. My loop frame is a 1973 Eldorado,
original red and white, unrestored, which is in quite nice shape. Currently
has just over 40,000 miles on it, 11,000 of which I have put on it since buying
it in 1997.
Not being a crazed loop frame fanatic like some of you (yet), I haven't had the
opportunity to end up with a garage full of parts. However, I am in the buying
market for a set of Wixom saddlebags that are in nice condition, in white. If
anyone has some they want to sell, let me know.
As far as a swap meet/show/campout, that would be neat. With the Guzzi Rallys
and other motorcycle events, finding an open weekend might be tough, though. I
didn't post a photo of my bike, not knowing what the list prohibitions are on
that.
Finally, a question for the list. One of the reasons I need the bags is that,
while returning from Moto Guzzi Day in Angier, NC, my Eldo went into a high
speed snap wobble (tank slapper) and we went down at about 70mph. My very nice
Wixom bags got torn up too badly to attempt to fix pricewise. I also need to
replace the damaged mirrors on the bike. While at the West Virginia rally, I
was looking around and saw more than one Ambo/Eldo with Napoleon barend mirrors
on it. I am sure they would work great, but am having guilt pangs about
considering this since it isn't exactly in keeping with the look of the old
loopframes. However, I am having a hard time locating much of a selection of
mirrors that clamp onto the bars. Anybody have any suggestions of mirrors that
look good on the loop frames and clear the shoulders to give a good rear view?
