I duplicated an original main harness. In construction, I use the same gauge of wire, the same colors and tracers (stripes), the same length and sheathing, the same terminals, etc. All terminals are of the double crimp, strain relief variety.

NOTE: The official Moto Guzzi 750 S spare parts catalog lists MG# 14747110 as the part number for the 750 S main harness. The one I sell here is a duplicate of the main harness used by the V7 Sport. I am not aware of the differences between MG# 14747100 and MG# 14747110. I believe the V7 Sport main harness will work perfectly on the 750 S. If you know otherwise or have any trouble after purchase, I will work with you to correct any issues.

  • Note: Main harnesses comprise the main - or primary - wiring harness. Each motorcycle also uses ancillary sub-harnesses. The individual sub-harnesses are sold separately.

NOTE: The official Moto Guzzi 750 S spare parts catalog lists MG# 12750301 as the part number for this 750 S sub-harness. The one I sell here is a duplicate of the sub-harness used by the V7 Sport. I am not aware of the differences between MG# 12750300 and MG# 12750301. I believe the V7 Sport sub-harness will work perfectly on the 750 S. If you know otherwise or have any trouble after purchase, I will work with you to correct any issues.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is very easy to destroy original or aftermarket switches when using a conventional soldering iron. Even if you know exactly what you are doing and are very experienced with soldering procedures, the switches can very easily be rendered useless. Rather than using solder, I strongly recommend the following:

  • Use a conductive epoxy to secure the wires to the switch. Most epoxies, including JB Weld, do not conduct electricity. MG Chemicals makes a conductive epoxy that I've used with excellent results (part number 8331).

At the alternator: Original additional/special sheathing (MG# 14710200) exiting the alternator cover is not included because it does not accept the larger diameter heat resistant wire; regular sheathing is used instead and it fits nicely through the alternator cover.

Alternator harness

This alternate version uses normal automotive wire that is less heat resistant (as original). This yields a smaller diameter bundle of wires that may be fit through the original rubber sheathing. Terminals are intentionally left off of one end of the harness so that the wires may be routed through the original rubber sheathing.

SELECT THIS VERSION ONLY IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO RE-USE OR REPLACE YOUR ORIGINAL RUBBER SHEATHING.

Uses all of the original correct original colors. Connections at alternator and rectifier are correct and accurate for the 750 S: lacking the flat 3-connection plug that was fit to later models.

Crimp connections after routing the harness through your original rubber sheathing:

  • Yellow: straight 6.3 mm female spade terminal
  • Orange: straight 6.3 mm female spade terminal
  • Green: straight 6.3 mm female spade terminal
  • Brown: straight 6.3 mm female spade terminal

Bracket for push-pull switch

This bracket is identical to the starter button bracket, except the hole is ~8 mm in diameter. The intent is to mount this bracket on the left clutch perch, mirroring the starter button bracket. Then, a push-pull switch may be fit to the bracket and used to conveniently actuate spot lights or other electrical components. Stainless steel. Very nice. Push-pull switch sold separately. Sold each.

Sealed construction. Resistor is used across the coil terminals for long life and reliable service. 40 amp maximum continuous current rating on the normally open circuit. 30 amp maximum continuous current rating on the normally closed circuit.

CRIMPER

Crimper for non-insulated, open barrel terminals

Inexpensive tool for crimping non-insulated, open barrel terminals. No, it is not a top-of-the-line ratcheting crimper. Nor does it handle heavy duty (thick) terminals. But it is perfectly adequate for occasional use, and inexpensive.
