If your fuse block is beyond repair, please consider Josh Cole's replacement fuse block.

The fuse box is of a riveted construction. If any of the rivets become even a little loose, electrical resistance will cause the metal to heat up and melt the plastic next to the loose rivet. It is easy to prevent this by ensuring that the rivets are tight. I use a pair of punches to tighten the rivets. I secure one punch in a vice, hold the fuse box over it with the other punch placed above the rivet, then *gently* strike the punch with a hammer to tighten the rivet up. I tighten each rivet this way.
