Thanks to Charlie Mullendore of Antietam Classic Cycle for providing this information. In Charlie's own words:
Clauss Studios has an Amal boot available.
If the Amal boot is not available, Alan Comfort has a solution.
Thanks to Alan Comfort for sending me these images and description. In Alan's own words:
I could not source a replacement for the perished rubber boot that connects the Amal carbs to the air filter on my loop frame Guzzi. Here is a solution that can be made with hand tools from off-the-shelf materials if you have some basic metal fabrication skills.
I TIG welded the joint in the tubing but it could be joined with a MAP gas torch and some low temperature
Alumi-Weldrods. The oval aluminum plate fits to the existing air box and I found that the rubber unions that are meant to join 2 inch plastic pipe to 2 inch iron pipe make the perfect interface between the Amal carb and the 2 inch aluminum tubing. The rubber seal is made from auto body fender welting and is fixed to the welded tubing with blind rivets and washers, It takes a bit of filing to get the fit just right, and no original parts were harmed with this modification. I am thinking that this would also work with Del'Orto carbs. I painted it black so it will look OEM to the casual observer. Pod filters would have been easier, but that would have been like dressing Sophia Loren in a polyester track suit.
