Thanks to Nick Rossi for sending me this information via e-mail. In Nick's own words:

I also ended up rebuilding a rear brake switch at the advice of Joe at the Guzzi doc (we broke it while adjusting the shift bias...long story) and took some pics that might be helpful to someone some time. It's quite a simple and elegant part.

I ground the rivets off from the back with a cut off wheel on the Dremel. The switch comes apart and has a metal backing plate, a gasket, and the main switch housing.

The brass contact arms can break, so as long as they are intact the switch can be rebuilt. The spring pushes the brass rod down to break continuity when the brake pedal is depressed.

I lightly sanded the contact surfaces until clean and shiny and then applied some dielectric grease. I put a thin coat of Yamabond on either side of the original gasket and bolted it back on the bike.
