Purpose

The purpose of these Moto Guzzi pages and the information they contain is to provide useful or hard-to-find information about Moto Guzzi motorcycles. The focus is divided into four categories:

  • Moto Guzzi loop frame motorcycles: V700, V7 Special, Ambassador, 850 GT, 850 GT California, Eldorado, 850 California Police (commonly referred to as loop frames, due to the shape of the frame designed by Giulio Carcano and Umberto Todero).
  • Moto Guzzi round head Tonti frame motorcycles: V7 Sport, 750 S, 750 S3, 850 T, 850-T3, 850-T3 California, V1000 I-Convert, V1000 G5, 1000 SP, Le Mans, Le Mans II, Le Mans CX100. The term Tonti refers to the engineer who designed the frame, Lino Tonti.
  • Moto Guzzi Quota 1000, Quota 1100 ES motorcycles (with specific emphasis on the 2000 model that was imported into the United States). The bulk of the data is information I collected when I owned a 2000 Quota.
  • Moto Guzzi small block motorcycles. V35, V50, V65, V75, and the myriad of small block variants.
  • All other Moto Guzzi motorcycles. There are a lot of them and I certainly don't cover them all in depth. But I do have some valuable resources for them.

Credits

There is no way I can list everyone who has helped me along the way - the list is too long and I'm likely to leave somebody out of the list. Instead, here is the list of credits from when I first began fiddling with Moto Guzzis.

  • Tom Bender - My Dad who gave me the un-restored 1971 Moto Guzzi Ambassador in exchange for painting the family house back in the late Spring of 1990.
  • John Schwartz - John provided a lot of advice.
  • Ron Garcia - Ron provided considerable help in the early stages of restoring my Ambassador's engine.
  • MG Cycle - Rick and Gordon sell me a lot of parts, and give great advice at the same time.
  • Rob Reardon - Rob painted and pin striped my Ambassador. He is easy to work with and did a great job. (952) 292-8886.
